The Effect of Lower Trapezius Strengthening Exercises on Pain, Disability in Shoulder Pain Patient with Rounded Shoulder Posture

Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of lower trapezius muscle strengthening exercises on pain, disability in Shoulder Pain Patient with Rounded Shoulder Posture.

Method: Following baseline measurements, the subjects (n=30) with unilateral Shoulder Pain Patient with Rounded Shoulder Posture were randomized into one of two 8 weeks exercise intervention groups: a experimental group (EG, n=15) that received strength training of the lower trapezius muscles or a control group (CG, n=15) that received stretch training of the upper trapezius muscles. Each group participated in the intervention for 35 minutes, 3 times a week, for 8 weeks. two patient were assessed by: Visual analog scale (VAS), Simple Shoulder Test(SST), Ultrasound imaging(UI).

Results: The results of this study are as follows: 1) In both control and experimental groups, VAS, SST, LTT were decreased significantly according to intervention period. There was significant difference between VASs of two groups.

Conclusion: These results suggest that a lower trapezius strengthening exercises reduce shoulder pain and shoulder disability in patients with Shoulder Pain Patient with Rounded Shoulder Posture.
